Project Description
Client: Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History
For the new Deep Time hall at the National Museum of Natural History, I helped design an activity about leaves and the clues they hold to the past. In this activity, visitors examine modern leaves and categorize the patterns of insect damage. Then visitors look at fossils from 40+ million years ago and identify if the same damage was occurring. For this activity, I ran multiple testing sessions with observers, built prototypes (like the one pictured), managed collections objects, and solicited bids for fabrication. I also designed a paleontology timeline for use across all the Deep Time activities.
